This 12-week hybrid course is designed for people working across the transformation of public services—whether you’re in policy, operations, digital, or strategy. Service architecture is the invisible structure that holds services together. Without it, public services become fragmented, inconsistent, and difficult to govern. Through online modules, live coaching, and in-person workshops, this course will build your understanding of service architecture from the ground up—equipping you with the language, tools, and structures needed to align services around citizens and deliver measurable impact. You’ll also be supported in applying this thinking inside your own organisation, with a focus on coaching, governance, and sustainable change.
1. Understanding Service Architecture in the Public Sector
Explore what service architecture is, why it matters, and how it underpins joined-up service delivery. Learn how to apply layered thinking to public services and move beyond single touchpoints to whole-system clarity.
2. Mapping and Modelling Public Service Systems
Gain practical tools for mapping service journeys, relationships, platforms, and responsibilities. Learn how to create blueprints, capability maps, and architectural models that make complexity visible and actionable.
3. Embedding Architecture Through Governance and Coaching
Go beyond theory with tailored support for embedding service architecture inside your organisation. Develop governance models, define ownership structures, and learn coaching techniques to support cross-functional teams and drive adoption.

This course has been created for anyone interested in learning transforming public services.
Yes and No. Meaning, it is not a deal breaker if you know absolutely nothing about service design theory, but it would be advantageous if the organisation has started to dip their toe into the waters of service improvement using Design.
For the optimal experience, it's best you have access to a working computer so you can engage with the content and engage with the application.
